EN1363-1 Fire-resisitance tests -Elements of building construction Part 1: general requirements

EN 1363-1 Fire Test to Building Material–Standard Description

Theobjective of determining fire resistance, as described in the part and theassociated parts of EN 1363, is to assess the behaviour of a specimen of anelement of building construction when subjected to defined heating and pressureconditions. The method provides a means of quantifying the ability of anelement to withstand exposure to high temperatures, by setting criteria bywhich the loadbearing capacity, the fire containment (integrity) and thethermal transmittance (insulation) functions can be adjudged.

Arepresentative sample of the elements is exposed to a specified regime ofheating and the performance of the test sample is monitored on the basis ofcriteria described in the standard. Fire resistance of the test elements isexpressed as the time for which the appropriate criteria have been satisfied.
