EN 660-2 ESILIENT FLOOR COVERINGS - DETERMINATION OF WEAR RESISTANCE PART 2: FRICK-TABER TEST - Scope
This European Standard describes the Frick-Taber method for determining the wear resistance of the wear layer of polyvinyl chloride floor coverings under laboratory conditions The test method is applicable to floor coverings with smooth surfaces. It can be used to determine the wearresistance of surfaces against abrasion and particularly for ranking different wear layer types within onetype of product. It is not appropriate for comparing the wear resistance of different materials, e.g. rubberand polyvinyl chloride.
EN 660-2 ESILIENT FLOOR COVERINGS - DETERMINATION OF WEAR RESISTANCE PART 2: FRICK-TABER TEST–test method:
Weigh the sample accurately to ±0.1mg.
Grind one sample at 5000 RPM, pause and weigh after every 1000 RPM, and test the other 2 samples. If the first sample is worn at 5000 RPM, exclude and test the remaining 2 samples at 200 RPM/cycle until stopped after 2000 RPM or the sample is worn.
Calculate the average mass loss. Fm, represented by mg/100 turn Fm=Ftot/n*100
The mass loss of 100 revolutions per sample is calculated as follows：
